#1 Merino Socks

The first item on our list is one that everyone will make use of, and one that everyone should be investing in. Socks. More specifically socks made from merino wool. The higher percentage of merino you can find the better, but they will typically have some nylon mixed in to make the stretch and fit better. Our personal favourite brand when it comes to merino socks is Darn Tough as they have an excellent warranty, but you certainly cannot go wrong with something from Smart Wool, or Icebreaker. If you are not yet apprised to the benefits of merino wool when it comes to your hunting clothing you are behind the times. Merino has taken over high end hunting clothing brands and for good reason. These can be found at pretty well any hunting or outdoors stores these days so you should not have to look far.
While definitely more expensive than you will be used to paying for socks, do not take my word for their worthwhileness. The entire outdoor industry made up their mind on this years ago.
#2 Tidewe Heated Hunting Cushion

The last thing anyone wants to be while hunting is cold. Stave off that late season chill with an excellent upgrade to the classic Canadian Tire Heat-A-Seat purchase. Tidewe is a brand that has exploded in popularity the last couple of years with their products, specifically in Canada, being predominantly available on Amazon. Whether hunting from a tree stand or sitting at the base of a tree, the 3 levels of heating and the silent water resistant material will be sure to get you through the closing minutes of shooting light or those initial sits prior to the sunrise. The icing on the cake with this purchase is that it is powered with an included battery bank that will also double as a phone charger if you find yourself in a pinch.
Not only will this item serve your hunting needs, but imagine how warm you will be next year waiting for Santa to come by on the last float of the Christmas parade.
#3 Skull Hooker

This one may be more aimed at keeping the decorator of the house happy. Skull Hooker has up’d the game when it comes to wall mounts but what what we are recommending here is a little different. The Table Hooker is an excellent alternative to the usual wall mount and will give you a greater appreciation for your harvested euro mount. Keeping your trophy on a table allows you to see more of it and from all sides and makes it easier to integrate in the decor of your home. Take it from us, having it on a table makes it that much more of a talking piece in your home. Do your euro mount a favor and show it off in a unique way.
If you are still not sold on a Table Hooker by Skull Hooker, this is perfect for someone who is running out of wall space because they are just that good of a hunter, or for someone who leases their residence and does not want to put holes in the wall.
#4 Bowmar Nose Button

This item is an innovation that has come out in the last couple of years as an alternative to the usual kisser button that a lot of people may see on their bows. Touting a more consistent anchor point these products are available for both compound and recurve bows and are easy to install at home with a quick instruction video and some bow know how. With all matter of colours to match your bow, Bowmar even has 13x Archery World Champion, Levi Morgan on board and promoting this product. There are plenty of places to find these in Canada but the location with the best selection is Ontario Archery Supply, linked below.
With a low price point this could also serve as the perfect item to round out your shopping for the bow hunter in your life and will be sure to fit as a stocking stuffer as well.
#5 Stini Gear Hunting Saddle

The new and improved way of hunting from a tree is saddle hunting. This style of hunting has grown in popularity in recent years and become the preferred method for a lot of people. A voices in the industry have endorsed saddle hunting as not just more comfortable, but safer as well. While this activity is definitely more aimed at able bodied hunters, the accolades of this new style cannot be ignored. If you are unfamiliar with this style I highly encourage you to watch some videos online about how they are employed. Lighter weight and more versatility allows you to go further and to more places without increasing your cost by having to keep a stock of multiple setups.
While being the priciest item on our list, we do have the benefit of a Canadian manufacturer for this product. Stini Gear based out of Ontario makes an excellent product that will be sure to serve any Canadian looking at the prospect of investing in a saddle hunting setup.
#6 Freeze Dried Meals

While this item may be more familiar to folks in the western half of our country as the demands of the hunt varies slightly from that of the east, it is no less useful for anyone spending time in the outdoors. Freeze dried meals have been around forever but innovation in this area continues to improve and these meals just keep getting tastier. Freeze dried meals have a shelf life of 25+ years and serve as a quick and easy of getting calories ingested while in a pinch. Whether someone is on a back country hunt having a mid day meal, a blind hunter warming up a tasty meal as the sun sets, or a fisherman getting some breakfast for the day at the boat ramp, this product is sure to come in handy. Extremely popular in the outdoor community, these meals can be tossed in to your glove box and forgotten about for the next 25 years, but when the time comes that you need something to eat, you know where to look.
There are a ton of different options on the market these days when it comes to freeze dried meals. Our favourite in tandem with them being the easy to find comes from Mountain House. Below are a couple of our go to meals.
#7 Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs

One thing that is often overlooked in the hunting woods is hearing protection. Most of us are very digilent about making sure we have them in for the range when sighting in, but as soon as we are in pursuit of game it tumbles down our list of priorities. From big game to waterfowl hunting, no doubt we all understand the need to protect one’s ears needs to be a greater focus when we head out the door in an attempt to put meat in the freezer. A fantastic solution for this is some custom molded earplugs from Decibullz. These thermoplastic earplugs work much like a hockey mouthguard. Simply place them in hot water, and follow the instructions on how to mold them to fit your ear, and just like that you have some custom hearing protection that you can put in your ear prior to touching off a shot. They do have a number of colour options and accessories to further customize them to fit your needs.
Available in passive or percussive options to meet different spending needs, we have these and love them, and are sure that you or the hunter in your life will as well.
#8 NEOs Overshoes

Have you ever been hunting and then looked around at some point and realized, “I am certainly not getting out of here without wet feet.” Rather than tromping around the entire time in a pair of rubber boots that have your feet sweating, why not put a pair of NEOs in your bag instead. These lightweight and compact overshoes can quickly be slipped on over top of the boots you are already wearing, and help you get out of plenty of sticky situations including water, mud, or even snow. Our recommendation for an all around solution is the Adventurer model that offers mid leg protection, snowshoe compatibility, and is 100% waterproof. This is another item on our list that is perfect for not just the hunter, but any outdoorsmen who may find themselves in the elements.
While the Adventurer is our recommendation, they also offer insulated winter options that can easily be found on their website.
#9 Tactacam Reveal X Gen 3.0

Last year I made some content regarding the Tactacam 2.0 series of cellular trail cameras including a YoutTube titled How to use Tactacam Reveal Cell Cam in Canada with information specifically on how to use them in Canada. As well they were included in our list of Top 10 Gifts for Canadian Hunters 2023. Well, fact of the matter is Tactacam took their already formidable option in the market and stepped it up a notch this year with their 3.0 version of the cameras. Now with built in sim cards that eliminate the hassle of trying to figure out which one to use, a more durable antenna, and built in GPS, this is hands down one of the best cellular trail cameras available in Canada right now. The other added benefit of these, a very reasonable price point for the technology that is included. If you are looking for something slightly cheaper, the Tactacam Reveal X Gen 2.0 cameras are still an excellent option.
I have said this time and time again but you can post on any Facebook page in Canada and ask people what their go to cellular trail camera is, and you will get a resounding thumbs up for the Tactacam series of cameras.
#10 Conservation Donation
Finally our last item on the list. When adding this to the list we had in mind the gift to get someone who already has everything, but after thinking about this more, a conservation donation is the perfect gift for anyone. It is just as good of a gift for a brand new hunter as it is for someone who has been hunting for decades. There are numerous options to choose from. It all just depends where your heart lies when it comes to conservation or what pursuit you are most interested in. Depending on the organization and the time of year, they also sometimes have added perks like free merchandise when you sign up so be sure to keep an eye out for those options. Regardless of what you choose, someone who spends time in the outdoors and pursuing wild game will be sure to appreciate that their gift is making a difference.
Below we have linked some of the most popular conservation organizations in Canada. If you have other options or ideas for people to donate, feel free to leave your suggestion in the comments below.
If you have made it this far down the list and are still stumped as to what to ask for for Christmas or what to get the hunter in your life, you can always reference our list from last year for some additional inspiration. All the items there are still just as relevant as the list you have read today.
Merry Christmas!
